NEW BATTING CAGE LOCKING SYSTEM

New locks have been purchased for the Batting Cage. There are now 2 padlocks in place at the front door, and an automatically locking door knob on the outside door leading into the storage area. These three new locks operate from the same key but we will still have a 2 key system as the deadbolts leading into the storage area (two from inside the tunnels and one from outside) will require the original key. These new locks are "increased security” locks made from hardened steel, and use keys that cannot be copied. When you remove the padlocks from the mesh door of the cage, you will need to secure the lock in order to remove the key for use in the subsequent locks. Please lock the padlocks to the door hinge when they are not in use to prevent them from being stolen. These are extremely expensive locks and you do not want to have to pay to have one replaced. (We started out with 2 padlocks last year, and one was stolen when it was hanging unsecured from the door).

Because the outside storage room door will now lock automatically, please ensure you keep the keys on your person at all times, or you risk being locked out.

ONLINE BOOKING IS UP AND RUNNING

Requests for booking the batting cage can now be made on line, so, if you haven’t already, please start using the online system. It is straight forward and easy to use. Simply select the times you require, fill in the required information and in the COMMENTS section, please include your division, team name and if you would like to use the pitching machine. Once your request is received, please allow the Coordinator 48 hours to reply. You will receive an auto-reply email on submitting your request. This does not mean your spot is confirmed. The Coordinator will send you a second email confirming your request. Please do not lose this email as it will have directions included on picking up keys to the cage. The keys will be stored in a lock box and the confirmation email will include the access code for that particular day. This code is changed on a regular basis, so if you do not record the code from your email, you will not be able to access your key. There are 2 sets of color coded keys. Please take only the key that you are assigned in the confirmation email. You will need to pick up your assigned key immediately prior to your session and return it to the lock box after so that it is available for the next team. Do not leave it with the next group arriving at the batting cage as they will have a different assigned key.

Like last year, we are accepting advanced booking requests 2 weeks in advance for a maximum of 2 sessions per week and these are on a first come, first serve basis but if space is available, short notice bookings can also be requested. (see booking procedures for more information.) Extra requests will be held until 48 hrs prior to ensure all teams have a chance to book their preferred times. The Coordinator will attempt to accommodate all requests, but you may be asked if you can shift times slightly to accommodate another team.

Batting Cage Booking Procedure
FEBRUARY 12 2012

Here we are, already well into 2012, and ball season is upon us! We've made a few changes in the batting cage, so some of the problems we saw last season with water logged lanes, wind or beating sun should hopefully be a thing of the past. There have already been a fair number of bookings for the cage this year, and our AMBA players are making the most of this fantastic facility.

Now that our updated website is here, an online booking request form is currently being developed and tested. For the time being, until the new form gets the green light, please continue to email the Coordinator privately for bookings. Like last year, we are accepting booking requests 2 weeks in advance and these are on a first come, first serve basis. The Coordinator will attempt to accommodate all requests, but there may be times when you are asked if you can shift times slightly to accommodate another team. (Thank you to everyone for the few times this did happen last year and you graciously helped each other out!!) If there are open spots, these can be requested 48 hrs in advance by submitting the same request form. Again, please use the online format as verbal requests cannot be addressed.

Once your request is received, please allow the Coordinator 48 hours to reply. You will receive an auto-reply email on submitting your request. This does not mean your spot is confirmed. The Coordinator will send you a second email confirming your request. Please do not lose this email as it will have directions included on picking up a key to the cage. The keys will be stored in a lock box and the confirmation email will include the access code for that particular day. This code is changed on a daily basis, so if you do not record the code from your email, you will not be able to access your key.

And for now, that should cover it. Enjoy the cage, and please let the Coordinator know it there are any issues in the cage that need addressing. And with all the practice everyone is now getting, AMBA should be looking at a year of record home runs!!
