| Great Turnout for First Practice The weather cooperated on Super Bowl Sunday as more than 30 Dodger hopefuls finally had a chance to test Devon's Diamond. The AAA and AA coaching staffs were pleased with the effort, attitude, and talent displayed. We believe it will be a fine lead in to the initial tryout weekend on February 11th and 12th. All players seeking to play on the AA or AAA squads are reminded to be at the park early, fully registered, and ready to take the field promptly at noon next Saturday. Players are also reminded that in light of the tryouts scheduled for the next three saturdays (February 11, 18, and 25), the batting cage sessions are on hold. Dodgers Going to the World Series? The Langley-Aldergrove Dodgers have received an invitation to play in the 2012 Continental Amateur Baseball Association ("CABA") World Series in Reno, Nevada. The tournament, spread over 8 days in July, involves teams from Washington, Illinois, California, Hawaii, Alberta, Saskatchewan and now British Columbia. It is one of the premier 14 & Under youth baseball events in North America. The Dodgers will be staying at Argenta Hall on the campus of the University of Nevada - Reno and will be playing on some of the finest fields in the West. Check back here for more information. Registration Reminder Players interested in trying out for the Bantam AA or Bantam AAA squads are reminded that they need to be registered before taking the field for the first tryout on February 11th. Registration information, including the amounts and documents required, is described in the News Item below. The next formal Registration date will be February 4th at 10:00 am in the Rotary Fieldhouse at Aldergrove Athletic Park (10:00 am to 2:00 pm). However, AMBA Registrar Heather Macmillan will also be at the park prior to the initial tryout date and parent meeting on February 11th. Additionally, you can provide your completed Registration forms, cheques, and supporting documents to the Bantam Coordinator Patrick Selinger at the Batting Cage Session on February 4th or at the On Field Practice on February 5th and he will forward them to the Registrar. Bantam AA and AAA Tryout Dates Announced The dates for the Langley Aldergrove Dodgers Bantam AAA and Bantam AA tryouts have now been confirmed. The tryouts will be spread out over 6 days in February to allow for weather cancellations and to allow the greatest number of potential players to participate. The actual dates of the tryouts are as follows: February 11 and 12, 2012 - 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm February 18 and 19, 2012 - 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm February 25 and 26, 2012 - 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm An information meeting for parents and guardians relating to AMBA's AAA and AA program will be held at 11:30 am on the 11th. The purpose of the meeting will be to outline our plans for the two teams for 2012, to explain the significant commitments required of players, parents, and participants, and to answer any questions you may have. Attendance at the parents' meeting and the initial tryout on Saturday, February 11th, is mandatory for all those seeking a spot on either the Bantam AAA or Bantam AA rosters. All participants should notify Patrick Selinger by email (pangean1@gmail.com) to confirm their intention prior to February 11th. Any player or parent that cannot attend on February 11th, must contact Patrick Selinger and discuss possible alternative arrangements. Attendance at subsequent tryouts will be determined based upon numbers, alternative arrangements made with the coordinator, and by invitation of the coaches. The initialsession and parents' meeting, along with all subsequent tryouts, will be held at Aldergrove Athletic Park (main Northeast Diamond and Batting Cage). |
